For this particular phase of works the Redland’s mini stonewold concrete tile was the specified roof covering, concrete tiles were introduced in the 1950’s as a cost effective alternative to clay tiles and have become one of the most popular choice of roof covering across the UK. One of the benefits of this materials is the easy and speed of which it can be installed in, reducing materials and labour time making it a cost effective solution. Sarnafil single ply was chosen to cover flat roofs of apartment and office blocks.
This phase of the project required an average of six roofers and 2 single ply installers to be on site. One of the challenges of this project was the scheduling of trades, a carpenter was required to build the base and the sides of the parapet, for the roofers to apply the wall capping which also required extremely detailed leadwork making it essential for all three tradesman to work together.
